about

The Leaning Tower is a follow-up to Book of Hours and originally set up as a sound installation on June, 3rd, 2013 during "Escuta Profunda" music cycle of performances where the space plays an essential role.

We returned to the same dome of Panteão Nacional in Lisbon, mesmerised again by the overwhelming height of 80 meters and with it's 20 seconds or more reverberation.

Initially conceived as an installation that would prelude other performances, it consists of a loop of the space itself that very slowly is continuously transformed by re-recording itself and, similar to Book of Hours (2008) spectrally freezes and interpolates the reflecting waves.

As impossible to resist, we climbed the hundred of stairs to the dome bringing Eduardo Chagas to play trombone and Carlos Santos on live sampling while the audience remains listening in the ground floor, sitting in circle at 80 meters below.
